15:30-16:00 Workshop ARMACELL BENELUX SCOMM: Using r-PET for innovative recyclable foam cored thermoplastic sandwich structures

This workshop explores the rapid rise of PET foam core as a preferred alternative to traditional core materials such as PVC and SAN. Participants will gain insight into its unique combination of properties, including excellent fatigue performance, strong temperature stability, and wide compatibility with both thermoset and thermoplastic resins.
The session highlights how thermoplastic r-PET foam enables advanced processing methods such as thermoforming, supports recyclability, and contributes to more sustainable composite solutions. With a focus on ArmaPET, a patented material made from recycled PET bottles, the workshop will also demonstrate how fully thermoplastic sandwich structures can address end-of-life challenges across industries including transport, wind energy, and construction.
Through practical case studies, attendees will learn how r-PET foam cores are applied in structural sandwich designs and understand the key properties driving innovation in lightweight composite applications.

In a context where aerospace and mobility are being reshaped by digitalization, lightweighting, and scalable advanced manufacturing, this session brings together key players including Airbus CTC, AIDC, COBRA Thailand, Cetim, and LOIRETECH, under the moderation of the Taiwan Composite Association Secretary General.
The discussion will explore composite innovation trends within the Airbus ecosystem and the importance of cooperation with Asia, illustrated through concrete examples. Following the lunch, visitors will receive a safety briefing and company introduction, followed by a tour of the facility including the clean room and finishing areas where visitors will gain a sense of the manufacturing practices deployed in today’s generation of commercial aircraft.
